Live and Recorded Read-Alouds

Updated: Apr 23, 2020

Hi there, CMS, I wanted to let folks know about some ways that you can get some reading done, even if you don't feel like reading. Guess what, listening to me read, while you go about your chores or your daily walks, counts as your 30 min of required reading! Here are some ways to do this:

1. In Google Meet, click https://meet.google.com/jfe-bfhb-ntp

at 1:00 pm Mon-Fri during break for a live read-aloud! We are currently reading Divergent by Veronica Roth. If this goes well, we'll find a time to continue the live reading after break.

2. I've got several books going as read-alouds on YouTube (one click, no log-ons). These can be found here under CMS Read-Alouds: https://padlet.com/rebecca_sofferman/eih7eg7yg837. This site includes a book trailer for each book plus a link to the playlist of videos. I'm reading for about 30 minutes in each video.

3. Starting April 30th, AudiobookSync is once again offering two free audiobooks per week throughout the summer. Sign up here and access the books via the Sora app! NOTE: these are Young Adult titles and may not be appropriate for all middle school readers.
